Arts & Crafts
From as young as 10-years-old I knew that my love of crafting was going to help me create beautiful things for the world as well as share my skills with other like minded souls.
I studied and graduated in textile design in the UK over 23 years ago, I ran a bespoke handmade ragdoll company in London, making commissions for individuals & fashion designers.
I relocated to Amsterdam in 2000 & for 16 years in Amsterdam I was allured by the corporate world. But once a creative, always a creative and in 2016 I took the leap of faith and responded to my creative calling and honoured the spirit of my 10-year-old self.
Since then I have carved out a creative lifestyle, working with children as a classroom design assistant, supporting their learning and understanding of design & product making as well as how to read a recipe and execute their newly acquired culinary skills during their food design lessons, food and cooking being another one of my creative passions.
This past summer I volunteered at a local creative studio, making & distributing free craft kits to local children, including heading a children's workshop in Frankendael park as part of a local event.
As well as teaching children crafts, I’m also currently running a textile course for adults, I share my knowledge of weaving, tapestry weaving, macrame and machine embroidery to a diverse range of craft lovers.
I volunteer at the Lycée Francais Vincent van Gogh as a lunch break employee, supervising the children during their mid-day break, ensuring they eat their lunch and are safe during play.
My other voluntary role is at Project Fearless, an after-school activity organisation for young girls, it is a foundation in which at its core is to provide a space where young girls are encouraged to live, be and move beyond the confine's society dictates for young girls and women. I’m currently coaching our teenagers to become supportive mentors to the younger Project Fearless girls.
My goal is to pass on my love of crafts to the next generation as a way of bringing a sense of purpose, meditation and confidence to the lives of young people.
