I’m Emily and I’m a British Recorder player living in Amsterdam. I have been working in schools in the UK for the past six years, and during this time I have taught Recorder, Clarinet, Piano and Music Theory! I came to Amsterdam to study Recorder at the Conservatorium in 2017. I perform with my Recorder Quartet BLOCK4, and we specialise in bringing live music to school children all over the UK, most recently with our project RECORDER MINIS.
During my time as a teacher, I have taught lots of different musical styles including African Drumming, Samba, Dance Music Remix and beginner Ukulele! I really enjoy teaching children all about music technology, helping them to learn how they can compose their own music digitally.
I love to make music with all different kinds of people, and have taught children of all different ages. I have also worked as a Live Music Now artist from 2014, where I worked with children who have special educational needs. This has helped me to develop a very flexible, supportive and encouraging teaching style. I hope for all of my students to feel supported and able to flourish to the best of their abilities!
